New Bristol Photography Studio
It is now 18 days since I got the keys to my very own Studio, and I could not have imaginged how much it was going to change not only my working life, but also my home life. The first thing I noticed was HOW MUCH SPACE I now have at home – 2 large shelving units of props and kitchenalia, large lamps, distressed wooden boards, years worth of food magazines, backdrops and all the flotsam and jetsam that comes with being a photographer is now all out of my house and in the studio. The difference is extraordinary, and has given me the physical space and the headspace to start to think differently about my work.
Last week I had five very different clients booked in. Monday was the fragrant products of 100 Acres. The studio smelt amazing as we lit the candles from the range to get us in the mood for the shoot! (http://www.100acres.co.uk)
Tuesday was a location shoot – a trip to the delightful Emma Bradshaw's home in the Cotswolds to photograph her kitchen for Crumbs magazine. (http://emmabradshaw.blogspot.co.uk). The full shoot is in the magazine that hit the shelves today.
Back to the Studio on Wednesday to shoot a new product that is under wraps for a few more months, more once it is released, but here's a teaser.
Thursday I shot the packaging for a new kind of Cake company, but this one is completely under wraps for now.
A couple of days editing filled the rest of the week, and a real treat of a job on Sunday when I was booked by the Lucky Onion (http://theluckyonion.com) to go and photograph The Ethicurian's Matthew Pennington and River Cottage chef Gil Meller take a group of lucky guests on a foraging walk, and then cook the spoils back in the kitchen of The Wheatsheaf Inn.
So that was the week! I do hope the studio continues to bring in interesting clients, and that I still get to go out & about to shoot food and the amazing people who work with it for many years to come. #crossingfingersandtoes.
